Gardaì open investigation after bus at special Mayo school is vandalised
GARDAÌ in Castlebar have launched an investigation after vandals caused significant damage to the new school bus at St. Anthony's Special in Castlebar.
The vandals forcibly removed the diesel tank from underneath the vehicle in order to drain it.
A post on the school's Facebook page stated: "All that damage because they wanted diesel for nothing.
"The amount they got wouldn’t even have filled a car tank.
"Now our new school bus which we use for bringing our special needs pupils on activities and educational trips will have to go for repairs.
"The old blue bus also had its diesel drained but wasn't as badly damaged.
"The gardai who came and took pictures and evidence were just as disgusted as we were that vandals would target our special school.
"The only positive is that I hope that our bus will be fixed by the time school re-opens for the children.
