Mayo councillor highlights dog fouling problem

DOG fouling has become a persistent problem in the Foxford area, according to local Councillor Neil Cruise.

In a social media appeal, he appealed to dog owners to clean up after their pets.

He said: “Dog fouling has been a persistent problem recently, especially on the path to Foxford station and on the Rinnaney loop.

“People are also letting dogs off the leash along both banks of the Moy upriver from Foxford Bridge to do their business, especially in the mornings from 7.30 a.m.

“I have reports that owners are not cleaning up after their dogs on the beaches in Drummin. Again, this is disgusting given local families use the beaches.”

He continued: “The message is simple - dog fouling is litter. Clean up after your mutt. It is not up to the Tidy Towns group or Mayo County Council to clean it. It's the dog owner's responsibility.”
