Bank of Ireland reopening four Mayo branches

BANK of Ireland is reopening four branches that were closed in Mayo due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister Michael Ring said the bank has confirmed to him that the branches in Ballinrobe, Ballyhaunis, Charlestown and Kiltimagh will reopen on Monday, June 29.

The opening times for the four branches are:

Ballinrobe, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday

Ballyhaunis, 10am to 1 p.m., Monday to Friday

Charlestown, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday to Friday

Kiltimagh, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday to Friday

Minister Ring explained: “Bank of Ireland have stated that modifications will be made in each of these branches to allow for social distancing and the protection of customers and colleagues in branch.

“They have also advised me that the ATMs will again offer lodgement as well as withdrawal services - 24 hours a day - from June 29 and that the range of supports put in place for over 65s, carers and healthcare workers will continue to be available and prioritised.”

Said the minister: “I am very pleased that these branches will be reopened from Monday, June 29. It is a much-needed service in a local area.

“I raised this issue when speaking in the Dáil last week. It is welcome news for the households and businesses of these towns and surrounding hinterlands.”

Deputy Dara Calleary, who made representations on the branches reopening, has also welcomed the announcement.

He was told by Bank of Ireland that they continue to see steady demand for support from SME customers, as well as increasing enquires about the State supports which are planned to be introduced.

He was informed by the bank: 'We are preparing our operations and resources to ensure that as soon as the full range of State supports are ready to be rolled out we can process applications for customers without delay.

'As the Covid situation continues to evolve, we will continue to monitor and adapt our operations to best meet the needs and wellbeing of our customers, colleagues and communities in County Mayo.'
