Death of founder member of Castlebar Mens Shed

The death has taken place of Roderick (Rod) O’Connor, 50 Riverdale Court, Knockthomas, Castlebar, and formerly of Captains Road, Kimmage, Dublin.

He was dearly loved husband of Chrissie (nèe Griffin) and loving father of Darren, Andrea, Jonathan and Paul.

He is also sadly missed by his brother Tom, sisters Jacqueline and Deirdre, son-in-law Mark, daughters-in-law Shauna, Tracey and Dawn, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

He was predeceased by his brother Joe.

Rod was involved in many local organisations, including Riverdale Court/Knockthomas Drive Residents Association, Neighbourhood Watch and he was a founder member of the Castlebar Mens Shed.

A tireless community worker, Rod was a noted craftsman and worked on many major construction projects across the country.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Removal takes place from his home in Castlebar on Friday morning at 11.15 to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon with the funeral proceeding afterwards to Shannon Crematorium, arriving at 3.30 p.m. for Committal Service.

Deepest sympathy is tendered to the O'Connor family on their loss.
