The start of a new era for Mayo schools
THE start of a new era began for many Mayo schools this morning after being closed since March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Among them was Ballintubber National School where 16 pupils started their education as members of the junior infant classes of 2020/21.
Teacher Ms. Noreen Keane made them very welcome as they arrived while Mr. Brian McConnell, principal, co-ordinated the return of all pupils to Ballintubber NS under the HSE social distancing guidelines.
The return to school is very challenging for everybody involved in the education sector and great credit is due to all concerned.
Photographer Alison Laredo was at Ballintubber NS to begin her annual 'First Day at School' series for The Connaught Telegraph.
Parents are welcome to let us know if their children returned to school today by sending us First Day at School photographs via our Facebook page.
