Big wins for Manulla, Castlebar Town and Kiltimagh Knock

MANULLA and Castlebar Town continue to pull away from the pack following the latest weekend of action in the Mayo Women’s League.

Manulla saw off the brave resistance of Conn Rangers to keep ahead of Castlebar on goal difference with a big win in Mount Falcon.

The sides were locked at three apiece with six minutes to go, but two late goals from Manulla secured them a valuable three point. Jess Nolan, Sinead Flannery, Aoife Brennan, Sadhbh Larkin and Megan Costello netted for the visitors, while Cliondha Flynn, Leah McHugh and Abbie Traynor scored for Rangers.

Castlebar remain hot on Manulla’s heels after they won by the same scoreline over Kiltimagh Knock. Emma Gibbons gave Castlebar the lead and Anna Tuohy doubled their advantage shortly after.

Roisin Molloy pulled one back for Kiltimagh Knock before Kirsten Sheeran restored Castlebar’s two goal advantage. Molloy scored another but Belinda Patterson and Erina Flannery put the result beyond all doubt. Anna McDonnell netted a consolation with ten minutes remaining.

UNDER 19 LEAGUE

In the Under 19 league, Annie Noonan’s solitary goal was enough for Westport Utd to pick up all three points against Snugboro Utd.

Kiltimagh Knock secured all three points in CMS Park after a 4-2 win over Swinford. Strikes from Lauren McLellan and Ellen Boyle gave Kiltimagh Knock the lead at the break and goals from McLellan once again and Anna McDonnell secured the win, with Ciara Forkan netting the goals for Swinford.

Castlebar Town remain the league leaders after coming from behind to win on the road against Conn Rangers. Goals from Kirsty Kelly and Roisin Kelly brought Castlebar level before half-time and strikes from Rachel Brown, Louise Dowling and Ava Keane in the second half secured the three points. Rangers goals came from Cliondha Flynn (two) and Ellie Ormsby.
