Irish Water explain disruptions to Kiltimagh water supply
RESIDENTS in Kiltimagh have experienced water outages in recent days.
A spokesperson for Irish Water has explained how works are taking place at the local reservoir, though there have also been a number of unplanned interruptions to the service.
Following queries by The Connaught Telegraph they explained how the reservoir on the Kiltimagh water supply scheme is presently being cleaned and refurbished. These works are essential and will improve the quality and security of supply of drinking water for customers in the Kiltimagh area.
An alternative temporary storage tank is in place at the reservoir site while these refurbishments are being carried out. However, the capacity of this temporary storage tank is much less than the reservoir which has caused some interruptions to the supply during unplanned interruptions such as bursts on the network, treatment process issues and electrical interruptions.
The statement continued: 'Unfortunately, some unplanned interruptions did occur on Thursday, October 1, due to treatment process problems at the treatment plant which caused some pressure loss within the system.
'Interruptions also occurred on Wednesday, October 7, due to ESB Network electricity supply issues at the treatment plant which also caused some power outages in parts of Kiltimagh.
'These issues were rectified that afternoon with the system recharging that evening.
'Irish Water apologises to all customers for the inconvenience that these incidents have caused. Irish Water would like to advise all customers that our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.'
It is expected the works on the reservoir will be completed by early next week with the scheme returning to normal operational mode later in the week once the water level in the reservoir is fully restored.
