The impact of Covid-19 on the arts sector
The Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht will discuss the challenges facing the arts sector due to the impact of Covid-19 when it meets today (Wednesday, October 14) with representatives of the National Campaign for the Arts.
The meeting, taking place at 2 p.m. in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, will hear from Angela Dorgan, chair of the National Campaign for the Arts, and two other members of the NCFA steering group, Cian O’Brien and Liv O’Donoghue.
Committee vice-chair, Deputy Alan Dillon, said: “Following our engagement last week with the Federation of Irish Sport on the impact Covid-19 has had on sport, the Joint Committee wants to discuss how the pandemic has affected the arts sector, which also plays such a central and important role in our society and economy.
“Members look forward to meeting with Angela Dorgan and her colleagues to hear their views and experiences of how Covid has impacted the arts over the last seven months.”
The Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht has 14 members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
Today's meeting can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV and also on the Houses of the Oireachtas smartphone app, available for Apple and Android devices.
