Warm tributes paid to much-loved young Castlebar man
Deceased described as 'a kind, faithful and beautiful gentleman'
The death of Seán Tobin, 4 Churchview Villas, Castlebar, has cast a shadow of sorrow and deep sadness over the community.
Aged 32, he worked as an emergency medical technician with Murray Ambulance Service since 2009 and was held in very high regard within the profession.
He is very deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents Noreen and Roderick, brothers Colin and Brian, his grandmother Maureen Tobin, uncles and aunts, cousins and nephew, Freddie, James Murray and all his colleagues at Murray Ambulance Service, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
A tribute on the Murray Ambulance Service Facebook page said Seán was one of their first employees, starting to work for the company in 2009, and subsequently going to work in the ambulance service in Australia.
The tribute continued: “He returned to Ireland when he became ill. After some treatment, some pretty difficult treatment, Seán became well enough to work again as an emergency medical technician which he was excellent at.
“He had the gift of empathy and compassion and was an all-round nice fella.
“Seán studied drama and appeared on film and on the stage.
“During his illness he taught all of us - friends, colleagues and acquaintances - how to deal with adversity.
“Very few of us would measure up to him in what he showed us all by his actions during his too short a lifetime.
“We are absolutely heartbroken that Seán has had to leave us.”
The tribute described the deceased as 'a kind, faithful and beautiful gentleman'.
Castlebar Pantomime has also paid a lovely tribute to the deceased.
It stated: "It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we say farewell to one of our own, Seán Tobin.
“Seán joined panto back in 2004 for Panto at the OK Corral and made a great impression on everyone even at a young age.
"Seán went on to advance his acting skills in other projects, including his involvement in The Tudors TV drama, but he returned to panto in 2015 for our production of Goldilocks and again in 2016 for The 12 Days of Christmas.
“Seán had excellent comedic timing and was a hit with cast, crew and audiences alike.
"We were sorry to hear his illness had returned and had hoped we would see him back on the panto stage again. Alas fate is a cruel mistress and robbed us of that chance.
“Seán will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him and on behalf of everyone in Castlebar Pantomime, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Removal takes place from his residence tomorrow (Friday) at 2 p.m. for Requiem Mass at 2.30 p.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery.
Due to the HSE and government guidelines the funeral at all stages will be private for family only.
