It's Mayo v Tyrone again next weekend, this time in hurling

The second instalment of Mayo v Tyrone will take place on Saturday afternoon (October 31) when the senior hurlers clash in Round 2A of the Nickey Rackard Cup.

The game will be played at Healy Park, Omagh, throwing in at 2 p.m., with a winner to be confirmed on the day.

On Saturday last, Mayo proved too strong for Monaghan in Round 1 of the competition, running out 3-32 to 2-10 winners in Clontibret.

Shane Boland was top scorer on 12 points (nine of them frees), with a great spread of scores besides – including 2-1 from wing back Cathal Freeman and 1-1 for Brian Morley coming off the bench.

Mayo were dominant from the start and had built up a lead of 0-7 to 0-1 by the end of the first quarter.

By half-time the lead was nine points, 1-13 to 1-4, and Monaghan simply were unable to contain Mayo, now with wind advantage, after the break as the visitors tacked on a remarkable 19 points and two further goals.

Tyrone will be a different challenge for Derek Walsh's men and the trip to Omagh will be something of a revenge mission for Mayo as they were beaten 1-15 to 0-15 by Tyrone in Round 1 of the Nickey Rackard Cup last year.
