Seven Mayo players set to make their championship debuts against Leitrim
Mayo get their Connaught SFC championship campaign underway on Sunday when they face Leitrim in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada at 1.15 p.m. at the quarterfinal stage.
The team named by manager James Horan contains seven players making their senior championship debuts.
They are: Oisín Mullin, Rory Brickenden, Eoghan McLaughlin, Bryan Walsh, Ryan O’Donoghue, Jordan Flynn and Tommy Conroy.
Six of those players featured during the recent league campaign games, but it's it's a debut appearance for Brickenden, the Westport club man.
Cillian O'Connor, who was injured for Mayo's final league game against Tyrone last Sunday, is named to start at right full-forward, with Aidan O'Shea captaining the team from full-forward.
The game will be shown live on the RTÉ News Now channel.
The Mayo team in full is: David Clarke (Ballina Stephenites); Oisín Mullin (Kilmaine), Stephen Coen (Hollymount/Carramore), Lee Keegan (Westport); Patrick Durcan (Castlebar Mitchels), Rory Brickenden (Westport), Eoghan McLaughlin (Westport); Matthew Ruane (Breaffy), Conor Loftus (Crossmolina Deel Rovers); Bryan Walsh (Ballintubber), Ryan O’Donoghue (Belmulle), Jordan Flynn (Crossmolina Deel Rovers); Tommy Conroy (The Neale), Aidan O’Shea (Breaffy), Cillian O’Connor (Ballintubber).
The Leitrim team has also been announced. The team in full is: Brendan Flynn; Donal Casey, Donal Wrynn, Conor Reynolds; David Bruen, Aidan Flynn, Cillian McGloin; Mark Plunkett, Domnnaill Flynn; Conor Dolan, Paddy Maguire (captain), Jack Gilheaney; Shane Quinn, Evan Sweeney, Keith Beirne.
