Drive-in movies confirmed for Mayo Movie World during December
The proprietors of Mayo Movie World, Castlebar, have announced they are launching a series of drive-in movies for December at their extensive car park at Moneen, Castlebar.
In an exciting Christmas development, the first of the screenings takes place on Friday, December 4, and there will have 16 dates to choose from before finishing up on Wednesday, December 30.
The Mulroy family has invested in preparing the car park and hiring start-of-the-art equipment, in association with Mc Donald AV, to allow loyal customers to watch old classics, kiddies and new films all from the comfort of their own cars.
Mayo Movie World’s 7 screen cinema was re-opened in July until October 6 - but it had to close again when Level 3 lockdown was introduced.
During the time of its reopening it had operated a safe and comfortable, Covid-compliant setting for all visitors to enjoy the movie experience again.
However, as Covid is something we have to live with currently, they have been working behind the scenes to operate a drive - In Movie experience for its loyal customers to visit and enjoy during December.
Breda and Cora Mulroy of Mayo Movie World explained: “While we have been closed for several weeks, we have been working behind the scenes to ensure we can find a safe way to provide much needed entertainment for all the family, especially this Christmas.
“We have invested a lot of time and monies on ensuring that it will be a very attractive option for the members of the public who have missed going to the movies in recent months.
“We see it as a very exciting venture as we bring drive-in movies to Castlebar and Co. Mayo, starting on Friday, December 4, and finishing on Wednesday, December 30, with 16 dates to choose from.
"We will be showing Christmas favourites, Kiddie’s movies, old classics and some latest releases, with something to suit all ages during the month.
"All details and ticket dates will be on sale later this week on https://www.ticketweb.ie and our website at http://www.mayomovieworld.ie
“We hope to provide food options of Meal deals from Moviebowl Diner, and of course, Popcorn, will be on sale for that real drive-in movie experience.
"We will be working under the current Covid regulations, with all staff trained in Covid and compliances all in place."
Pat Concannon, manager, Movie Movie World, said they have been working to put a nice programme of titles together to entertain all ages from Frozen, Paddington, Polar Express, Paddington, Harry Potter trilogy, Love Actually, Grease, Tenant and loads more.
"We are excited and looking forward to bringing this drive-in experience to Mayo Movie World this Christmas."
