Ifac appoints new partner to Mayo office

Farming, food and agri-business specialist professional services firm ifac has appointed Donal Halleran as partner of the firm's Balla office, serving clients in Mayo and north Galway.

Previous Balla partner Martin Clarke was recently promoted to the role of commercial manager at the firm.

Donal gained a B-Commerce degree from UCG in 1994 and went straight into a trainee accountant role with Deacy Concannon in Galway, where he qualified as a chartered accountant. He brings significant commercial and audit experience to the partner position from his previous roles.

He will oversee the work of the Mayo office and all its services, including tax advisory, accountancy, farm expansion, farm structures, pension planning, succession planning, and a myriad of other ifac financial services to support its clients’ business needs.

This includes ifac’s specialist succession advisory service and its new FarmPro service, to help farmers make better decisions and have more control over their finances and the running of their farms.

Commenting on the appointment, John Donoghue, CEO of ifac, stated: “We are delighted to appoint Donal as partner of the Mayo office. Having joined the firm in 2016 as a chartered accountant, he brings a wealth of experience to our team.

“We pride ourselves on our personal service to our clients and Donal will continue to provide and develop our service offering for our clients in the west of Ireland.”

Donal himself expressed his delight at the appointment, adding: “As the external environment has become more complex, the demand for financial advisors with specialist farm sector knowledge has grown significantly. Ifac has a strong reputation for doing this and delivering an excellent client service. This is why the Balla team is on hand to guide our clients through all of their key business decisions with the shared goal of ensuring Irish farming remains a vibrant industry.”

Ifac has been at the heart of agriculture and food since 1975, providing a quality service and expert advice to its local farming, food, and agri-business clients across the county.

The firm now has over 30 locations nationwide, employing more than 400 people locally, and making ifac Ireland’s eighth-largest professional services firm. It’s Food & Agribusiness Team has been named Advisory Team of the Year 2020 at the recent Irish Accountancy Awards.
