Outrage in Mayo over poisoning of pet dog Zeus

Pictured is Zeus.

He was six years old and a strong, fit and healthy dog who loved to bark.

He’d bark when people came to the house or leave it and he’d bark at anyone that drove or walked past the house.

But he did this from inside the walls and gate of his owner's family home in south Mayo.

He never hurt anyone but someone decided to hurt him.

They hurt him by giving him such a dose of rat poison that it caused all his organs to fail and for him to bleed out until there was nearly nothing left in him.

The vet said it was the worst case of dog poisoning he has ever seen and that it’s criminal a dog like this was taken in this way.

The story of Zeus was shared across social media over the weekend and it understandably caused outrage among animal lovers.
