Mayo GAA confirms election of officers
Mayo GAA has announced that the counting of votes for the election of officers for 2021 took place at Elverys MacHale Park last night.
On conclusion of the count, the following were elected:
- PRO: John Walker, Cill Chomáin GAA Club
- Connacht Council: Paul Cunnane, Davitts GAA Club, and Johnny Hopkins, The Neale GAA Club
The three officers will be ratified during the annual Mayo GAA Convention on Sunday (December 13), which will be held online this year for the first time ever.
Walker succeeds Cunnane in the position of PRO, a role the Davitts man has held for five years. The other candidates in the field for the position were Ciara Buckley (Ballyhaunis) and Michael Gallagher (Ballycroy).
Hopkins, meanwhile, was in the running for the Connaught Council vice-president position but lost out to Vincent Neary (Bonniconlon) a couple of weeks ago. It was Mayo's turn to nominate the vice-president this year.
