VIDEO: Pupils of Balla NS display creativity ahead of All-Ireland SFC final with amazing poem
Teacher Emma Daly, together with her class at Balla National School, have been getting very creative - composing "Twas the night before Sam" in preparation for the GAA clash of the year between Mayo and Dublin at Croke Park on December 19.
Ms. Daly added a lot of sparkle to this amazing poem and we're sure it will give the Mayo players a boost before All-Ireland final day.
School activity is a little different this year with guidance against singing and playing wind instruments.
Therefore their individual pods made this video which adheres to guidelines.

The words of their poem are as follows:
Twas the night before Sam
‘Twas the night before the All Ireland
And all thru Mayo
No panic for tickets
Because we can’t even go.
The sleigh it was ready
And filled with the team
The spirits were steady
Sam Maguire was the dream.
And more rapid than Conroy
James Horan he led
As he shouted “Hon Aido”
Then up went the sled.
Right through the sky
Past the Mayo flags flying
Looking down at the Dubs
Who were nervously crying.
The ball went up
As the whistle it blew
It was magic what happened
Wait till we tell you...
Mc Loughlin on the wing
O’ Connor on the free’s
Up went Coen
Knocked the Dubs out with ease.
David Clarke in our goal
So nothing went in..
We were on fire
We knew we would win!
With Keegan and Barrett
In defensive line
Durcan played so well
It was nearly a crime.
The match was over,
We had just won Sam
And all that was left
Was the Turkey and Ham
Supporters back home
With their eyes all aglow
With Santa on the hill
Shouting Ho Ho UP MAYO!!!!
