Burst water main in Westport affecting 1,000 people
A BURST water main in Westport is affecting 1,000 people today.
Irish Water and Mayo County Council have advised customers in the following areas in Westport - Lodge Road, Slogger, Monamore, Knockranny, Buckwaria and the Clogher GWS - that their supply has been impacted as a result of a burst to a water main on the grounds of Allergan.
Approximately 1,000 people are affected by the unplanned outage.
Repairs are complex and will extend into tomorrow. Updates will be available on the supply and service section of Irish Water’s website at https://www.water.ie/water-supply/supply-and-service-update/.
An alternative water supply is available for customers at the entrance to Buckwaria Road, near Rice College. Customers are advised to bring their own containers when availing of the alternative supply and to boil the alternative water supply before use as a precaution.
Irish Water has thanked customers for their patience while they work to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers.
