Floodlights on busy Mayo bridge have failed to shine for three years now
An elected member of Castlebar Municipal District has called for the floodlights on the bridge near St. Gerald's College in the county town to be repaired.
Councillor Ger Deere said he had the privilege when he was Mayor in 2011 to officially open this bridge which has been a huge benefit for traffic flow around the town.
He stated: "The floodlights were a lovely feature but they stopped working around three years ago and haven't been repaired since.
"I have asked that repairs be carried out.
"It would be great to see it floodlit again and if colours could be changed to mark occasions such as All -Ireland finals, St. Patrick's Day and Darkness into Light, as happened in the past."
