Lee Keegan surprises Mayo GAA fan ahead of All-Ireland Final

Specsavers ‘Something to Smile About’ campaign brings early Christmas cheer

Mayo GAA star Lee Keegan surprised young fan Tiarnan Slattery on Zoom this week ahead of the All Ireland final tomorrow.

The surprise was part of the Specsavers ‘Something to Smile About’ campaign which aims to celebrate the positivity and joy that a simple smile can bring.

Tiarnan Slattery, 8, from Claremorris, thought that he was having a Zoom call with his granny, but little did he know he would meet his favourite Mayo GAA player on the other side of the screen.

Lee and Tiarnan chatted about their love of the sport and Tiarnan showed Lee his lucky Mayo hat.

Lee ended the call with a surprise signed Mayo jersey for Tiarnan.

Tiarnan’s father, Gerard Slattery, said: ‘It was an amazing experience, absolutely unforgettable!

"Thanks to Specsavers for the chance to get some great footballing tips from Lee Keegan.

"Hopefully, Mayo can do it on Saturday! We'll be cheering and shouting for them - C'mon Mayo!!’

Specsavers Castlebar store director, Niamh O’Connell, stated: ‘We were delighted to be able to bring some joy to people’s lives by surprising Tiarnan with a Zoom call from Lee Keegan.

"The surprise was made possible through Specsavers sponsorship of the GAA Hawk-Eye.’"

The Specsavers ‘Something to Smile About’ campaign celebrates the positivity and delight that a simple smile can bring, and this story is an example of just that.
