Mayo Voucher keeping hundreds of thousands of euro in local economy

THE Mayo Voucher, the only all-Mayo local voucher, is having a significant impact on the local economy with hundreds of thousands of euro worth of vouchers purchased already.

The Mayo Voucher can be redeemed in hundreds of retail outlets and businesses around the county. Vouchers can be purchased online (https://mayovoucher.ie/) and there is still time for interested businesses to sign up before Christmas.

The idea of the Mayo Voucher is that it can be spent at any of the Mayo businesses who have signed up to it. Like any gift card, it doesn’t all have to be spent at the same time – and can be used in different places too.

It doesn’t have an expiry date, and unlike some other cards, the value doesn’t decrease over time.

Many Mayo businesses like Portwest have chosen the Mayo Voucher as a Christmas bonus for staff members. This is a great way to support local businesses and keep money in Mayo this Christmas.

“We see the Mayo Voucher as an excellent initiative which we were keen to support,” said Elaine Moyles, acting head of enterprise with Local Enterprise Office Mayo. “It’s a great initiative by the Mayo Chambers and one which is having a significant impact in the build up to Christmas, keeping money circulating within the county.”

Elaine also commended individual towns who have developed their own vouchers, saying: “It’s great to see the resourcefulness of towns and areas around the county who have launched vouchers to support local businesses.”

The Mayo Voucher is an initiative of Mayo Chambers of Commerce, and is supported by Mayo Local Enterprise Office and Mayo.ie. Anyone who would like to sign their business up or buy a Mayo Voucher can do so through the website above. See Facebook too for regular updates.
