Passing of retired Mayo ambulance officer is widely mourned

The death has taken place of Michael Ainsworth, Auray Place, Newport Road, Castlebar.

The deceased was a retired ambulance officer with the HSE and gave outstanding service to the community over many years.

He was held in very high regard and news of his passing has evoked an immense sense of loss in the county town and beyond.

He is deeply regretted by Marie, his sons, Barry (Scotland), Michael (Castlebar) and Paul (Castlebar), brothers Oliver (Gibraltar), and Philip (Dublin), sister Breege Bourke (Dublin), daughters-in-law Helen and Rodina, grandchildren Kelly, Kirsty, Billy, Laura, Anna and Sarah. Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Interment took place in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar, following Requiem Mass this morning for the repose of his soul in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
