Further increase in Covid cases at Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care today at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has increased by a further 10 to 47.

It remains second highest hospital statistic in the country behind the Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, with 68.

That's according to figures recorded at the Castlebar centre by the HSE at 8 p.m. yesterday.

Eleven new cases were confirmed at the Castlebar centre during the 24-hour period prior to the date being compiled yesterday evening.

There are no suspected cases in the hospital, down by two, and the facility's ICU stays virus free.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases has increased by 89 to 619.

The number of patients in intensive care units has risen by six to 56.

There are four vacant general beds at MUH, a rise of two, and two vacant critical care beds, up by two.

A total of 233 new confirmed cases in Mayo were revealed by the Health Protection Surveillance yesterday evening.
