Covid statistics staying high at Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care today at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has increased by one to 52.

It's now the ninth highest hospital statistic in the country, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, top of the list with 86.

There are 71 cases at Galway University Hospital.

The latest figures, recorded at the Castlebar centre by the HSE at 8 p.m. yesterday, revealed four of the cases were confirmed in the previous 24 hours.

There are two suspected cases in the hospital, no change, and the facility's ICU stays virus free.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases has increased by 96 to 977.

There are 211 suspected cases hospitalised, a rise of 51.

The number of patients in intensive care units has increased by 13 to 88.

There are seven vacant general bed at MUH, up by four, and one vacant critical care bed, no change.

A total of 121 new confirmed cases in Mayo were revealed by the Health Protection Surveillance yesterday evening to bring the county's total to 1,055 for the past two weeks.

It leaves Mayo with a 14-day incidence rate of 808.4 - below the national average of 819.1.
