IDA plan new Mayo Advance Building Solution to attract investment to county

THE plans by IDA Ireland to make additional investments in drawing greater Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Mayo have been highlighted by Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon.

The new four-year strategy launched by the IDA commits to delivering an additional Advance Building Solution in Mayo.

The most recent Advance Building Solution built in the county was occupied by Meissner Filtration Products in Castlebar and has since commenced operations.

The provision of more Advance Building Solutions and fast track property solutions will be a key factor in attracting greater FDI levels to Mayo in future years.

Said Deputy Dillon: “The IDA has made firm commitments for Mayo as part of their four-year strategy - Driving Recovery & Sustainable Growth 2021-2024. The most promising commitments involve delivering Advance Building Solutions in Mayo over the coming four years 2021-2024.

“They have also undertaken to working closely with the private sector in the west to secure the provision of appropriate and cost-effective building and property solutions for client companies.

“Additional upgrade works, and investment are planned for IDA parks in the region to ensure a robust value proposition for clients.

“I understand the IDA is currently engaged with Mayo County Council to progress a partnership to develop additional business park and strategic lands for future development. Furthermore, the IDA Property Division plans to work in partnership with Mayo County Council to develop access infrastructure to lands in Ballina.”

He continued: “The fact remains that of the 128 investments secured by the IDA during 2020 - 52% of those were to locations outside of Dublin. This further demonstrates that Fine Gael in government is serious about prioritising balanced regional development.

“Part of these plans will involve ensuring large scale investments from Foreign Direct Investment have easy access to suitable buildings in near turn-key condition.

“The provision of a further Advance Building Solution will be a very positive development for Mayo industry along with the plans by Mayo County Council to develop strategic land banks for future development.”
