Mayo LGFA advertises for senior team manager

Mayo LGFA has advertised for a new senior team manager following the departure of Peter Leahy after three years in charge.

- Have an understanding of and work within the guidelines of the LGFA and the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Young Players

- Be garda vetted

Application forms are available from secretary.mayo@lgfa.ie. All completed application forms must be returned via post or email to the county secretary (secretary.mayo@lgfa.ie) no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27. Interviews will take place shortly thereafter.

Last year, under Leahy's tutelage, Mayo won three and lost two league games before Covid-19 brought about a long postponement of inter-county action. The season resumed later in the year with the championship, with Mayo in a group alongside Tyrone and Armagh. A comprehensive victory over Tyrone was followed by a defeat against Armagh, leaving the Ulster county in the All-Ireland semi-final as group winners (the four group winners went straight to the semi-finals in 2020).

Mayo reached the All-Ireland semi-final the previous year (2019) before losing narrowly to close rivals Galway, while they were comprehensively beaten by Galway the year before that (2018) at the quarterfinal stage.
