The new Mayo GAA minor team manager, Sean Deane.

Sean Deane ratified as Mayo Under 17 team manager

Sean Deane has been named the new manager of the Mayo GAA Under 17 team. He replaces Tomás Morley, who stepped down from the position recently after three years in charge.

Deane, who was ratified at a Mayo County Board this evening, has assembled a backroom team of Gary Ruane, Shane Conway, Shane McCann and Danny O'Toole.

Mayo County Board chairman Liam Moffatt said there was a lot of interest in the position, with five candidates putting their names in the hat.

Two had to withdraw prior to the interview process as they were having difficulties getting backroom teams together, but the three remaining candidates – Sean Deane (Breaffy), Paul Kane (Hollymount/Carramore) and Tom Mulderrig (Aghamore) – made presentations of a very high standard to the interview panel, according to Mr. Moffatt.

Announcing the appointment this evening, Mayo GAA said: “Mayo GAA would like to congratulate Sean Deane on being appointed as the Mayo Under 17 football manager. Sean was ratified at tonight's county board meeting. Mayo GAA would like to take this opportunity to wish Sean and his backroom team the very best of luck in the 2021 season.”
