Question raised over extent of tree felling in Mayo
A Mayo TD is questioning the extent of tree felling in the county.
Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh has asked the Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is carrying out tree felling on a substantial scale in Mayo.
She sought information on the planned extent of this tree felling in the county and nationwide.
In response, the minister said under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 and in line with the National Development Plan (NDP), the operation and management of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.
"This is also subject to the Public Spending Code Guidelines and the necessary statutory approvals. In this context, TII is best placed to advise you.
"I have referred your question to TII for a direct reply," he added.
