Increase reported in positive Covid cases at Mayo University Hospital
The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has increased by seven to 62 in the past 24 hours, according to the report compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.
MUH's virus figures are now the ninth highest in the country, the list headed by the Mater Hospital, Dublin, with 89.
Galway University Hospital has 39 positive cases in care, down by six, while Sligo University Hospital has 35, a decrease of five.
Two new confirmed case was admitted to the facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on February 4.
There are four suspected cases at the centre, no change, and four confirmed cases are in the facility's ICU, no change.
Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 1,158, a decrease of 81.
The number of patients in intensive care units nationally has dropped by six to 177.
There are two vacant general beds at MUH, up by one, and one vacant critical care bed, no change.
A total of 39 new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, bringing the total to 542 for the past two weeks.
It leaves the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 415.3 - the eighth highest in the country and above the national average of 369.
