Mayo Sailing Club’s plans to improve facilities approved

MAYO Sailing Club, which has over 250 members, is progressing plans to improve its facilities at Rosmoney, Westport.

The club has been granted planning permission for a new hardstand/boat storage area, to construct a floating pontoon with a link to the shore, and to alter the western side of the existing slipway to provide a vertical wall and increased slipway width.

The site is located in the Clew Bay SAC but environmental reports submitted to planners set out that the development would not affect the integrity of the SAC.

There were no objections to the works, with a letter of support being issued by Deputy Michael Ring.

Mayo Sailing Club are a very successful club, he said, and they were anxious to develop their facilities at Rosmoney with a view to making it safer and more accessible for their members.
