Call for halt to 'reckless behaviour' on west Mayo roadway

A Mayo elected representative is calling a halt to motorists jumping stop signs on the Westport to Newport roadway where works are ongoing.

Councillor Brendan Mulroy made his appeal after witnessing a number of drivers doing so today while machinery was crossing the route.

He stated: "It puts everybody in danger when people engage in this reckless behaviour - particularly the worker holding the stop signs.

"If you are in a hurry, please leave home earlier and do not engage in this reckless behaviour.

"Has Covid 19 not taught us anything?

"We have to respect each other and look out for each other, and that includes on the road."
