Damage caused to landmark bridge in Mayo heritage village

The community of Turlough has highlighted the damage caused to one of village's most historical landmarks after being struck by a vehicle.

A post on the Turlough Community Heritage Village Facebook page said it is sad to see what happened.

"This bridge is an integral component of the civil engineering heritage of Turlough and is recorded as a protected structure in the protected structures records of County Mayo.

"Mayo County Council, which has responsibility for the maintenance of the bridge, have been notified.

"It is vitally important that this bridge receives the required professional attention and must be reinstated to its original condition," the post added.
