Covid: 18 deaths, 683 new cases with 11 in Mayo

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of 18 additional deaths related to Covid-19.

Of the deaths reported today, six occurred in March, seven in February and five in January.

As of midnight on Tuesday the HPSC was notified of 683 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 232,164.

They include 11 in Mayo, now with a 14-day incidence rate of 59.8 - below the national average of 159.3.

The county's five-day moving average has increased to six.

Of the cases notified today:

324 are men and 359 are women.

75% are under 45 years of age.

The median age is 32 years old.

308 in Dublin, 68 in Donegal, 49 in Kildare, 35 in Meath, 30 in Offaly and the remaining 193 cases are spread across 21 other counties.

As of 8 a.m. today, 329 Covid-19 patients were hospitalised, 76 in ICU.

There have been 18 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
