Further fall in positive Covid figures at Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has fallen by three to seven over the past 24 hours.

No new confirmed cases were admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on March 23.

The latest HSE report from the facility was compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are now the 15th highest in the country, the list headed by St. James's Hospital, Dublin, with 38.

Galway University Hospital has five positive cases in care, up by one, while Sligo University Hospital has 15, an increase of one.

There are two suspected cases at the Castlebar centre, a rise of two.

The ICU at Mayo University Hospital is Covid-free.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 310, a fall of 15.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 75, a decrease of one.

There are three vacant general beds and two vacant critical care beds today at MUH.

Eleven new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, leaving the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 59.8 - below the national average of 159.3.

Mayo's five-day moving average has increased to six.
