Updated Covid statistics from Mayo University Hospital published

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has not changed over the past 48 hours, staying at six.

No new confirmed cases were admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on March 26.

The latest HSE report from the facility was compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are now the 16th highest in the country, the list headed by St. James's Hospital, Dublin, with 44.

Galway University Hospital has five positive cases in care, no change, while Sligo University Hospital has 14, an increase of one.

There are two suspected cases at the Castlebar centre, up by one.

The ICU at Mayo University Hospital is Covid-free.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 319, a rise of 15.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 65, down by one.

There are six vacant general beds and no vacant critical care beds today at MUH.

Eight new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, leaving the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 56.7 - below the national average of 159.9.

Mayo's five-day moving average has risen to nine.

There were two additional Covid deaths reported nationally yesterday and 624 new cases.
