Car park closure affecting people tending to graves
THE closure of the car park at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar needs to be reviewed.
The plight of someone attending a grave in the old cemetery was highlighted by Councillor Michael Kilcoyne at a municipal district meeting this week.
This person, he said, wanted to bring in a bag of peat moss for a grave but couldn't as the way in was locked.
MD head Iarla Moran said discussions have taken place with the gardaí and HSE regarding closures and the position hasn't changed. With recent announcements about various restriction levels, they would talk with them again.
Senior engineer Ann Sweeney said council staff are available to assist anyone wanting to bring materials in to tend graves - give them a call if you need assistance.
