Mayo hospital helpline for patients with cancelled appointments

MAYO University Hospital has set up a helpline for urgent calls from patients who have concerns regarding their medical condition following the cancellation of their appointments this week.

The direct number for these calls is 094 904 9310. Lines are open from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m.

All other calls to the hospital should continue to be made to the normal phone lines.

The ransomware attack on the HSE IT systems is having an ongoing impact on services at Mayo University Hospital. The ongoing service disruptions are as follows:

APPOINTMENTS CANCELLED

All outpatient, day case, inpatient and endoscopy appointments remain cancelled. Please do not come to the hospital unless you have been contacted directly by the hospital.

MATERNITY SERVICES

All maternity services including antenatal scanning and section patients are going ahead. Women who are booked for sections next week should contact the maternity department if they haven’t received a call. Patients should expect delays as the existing IT systems are not in use and the manual workarounds in place are time-consuming

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

The Emergency Department is still open for all emergencies. Patients needing urgent care will be prioritised.

Where possible patients should bring their existing patient number or board number with them when they come to the hospital or any letter that they have received from the hospital as this will contain information which will make it easier to find existing medical records.

The hospital sincerely thank patients and their families for their understanding at this difficult time.
