Declan Kilkelly confirmed as new Manulla FC manager
Declan Kilkelly has been appointed the new manager of Manulla F.C.
He will meet the members of the club's senior squad for the first time next Sunday as preparations are put in place ahead of the Mayo Super League season which kicks off next month.
Speaking to The Connaught Telegraph, he said he is looking forward to the challenge.
He explained: "It all happened very quickly. I took a few days to make a decision after being contacted by the club.
"I am delighted to get the opportunity to return to this level of the sport."
Kilkelly has a long association with the game in Mayo, having starred as a goalkeeper for Castlebar Celtic FC for many seasons before going on to coach the club's senior team at National Under-21 League and Mayo Super League level.
His proudest achievement was leading the club's Under-18 squad to the FAI Youths Cup for the first time in May 2007, following a 2-1 win over Everton (Cork) in the final at Milebush Park.
He also represented his county in the Oscar Traynor Cup on many occasions.
Kilkelly said he has yet to appoint his managerial team but has a number of options in mind.
