Sonas Belmullet to host Midwest Radio today

Excitement is mounting among residents and staff at Sonas Nursing Home, Belmullet, as it prepares to welcome Midwest Radio for a live outside broadcast today (Friday, May 28).

The station’s Mid Morning Show, which goes out between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., will be broadcast live from the grounds of the home, which is located on Tallagh Hill, overlooking the magnificent Broadhaven Bay.

The show, which features a lively mix of chat, music and loads of giveaways, is presented by Gerry Glennon.

Claire Carey, manager of the nursing home, said residents, their families and staff are really looking forward to the show.

“Events like this show that we are returning to more normal activities after what has been an extremely challenging year due to Covid,” she observed. “The successful rollout of the vaccination programme has been a hugely positive development for all here in Sonas and we are now looking to the future with real confidence.

“Residents and staff are excited about getting back to the full range of activities they enjoyed pre-Covid and, of course, enjoying regular visits from their families and friends. I would also like to pay tribute to the dedicated and hardworking team here in Sonas for the tremendous care they have provided and continue to provide to residents.

“The show will feature chats with residents and staff and some music too, so we’re looking forward to connecting with the families of residents, all the people who support us in the community and our friends both here and further afield.

“We hope as many people as possible in our wide network tune in, whether they are listening in down the road or online in London or New York. It promises to be a memorable show.”
