Mast proposed on north Mayo GAA club site

Eircom are planning to erect a new mast at Moygownagh GAA Club.

The company has sought planning permission for the removal of an existing 18-metre floodlight pole and replacement with a new 18-metre telecommunications support structure carrying antennae, a dish, and relocated floodlights.

There will also be ground-based equipment cabinets and all associated site development works for wireless data and broadband services.

The club address is at Knockaculleen, Garranard, Ballina.

Eir wish to provide wireless high-speed data and broadband services from the proposal due to growth in customer demand locally and to meet its 3G and 4G coverage objects for the area.

The company said a slimline, slender, unfussy design is proposed to minimise any negative visual impacts.

The mast will be replacing an existing floodlight pole and will not result in any additional vertical infrastructure at the site.

With the same height, scale and design of the existing floodlight pole, which is an established feature on the landscape, it is not anticipated that it will result in any additional visual impacts.
