Tributes paid to popular Westport personality Jan Van Den Oosten
Many warm tributes have been paid to Jan Van Den Oosten, Horkans Hill, Westport, whose death has taken place.
The deceased was described in one of the tributes on social media as 'a true gentleman with a love of the sea that he shared with all who ever had the opportunity to be in his company'.
Another stated: "He was an outstanding gentleman in so many ways. We have very happy memories of him."
Jan is deeply regretted by his loving wife Kathleen (née Kelly), sons Johnny and Ray, daughters Pauline and Corina, sons-in-law Emmet Maxwell and Eamon Forde, daughters-in-law Ann and Linda, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul takes place tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Westport, with burial afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
