Mayo man wins Ireland's longest cycle race

A MAYO cyclist has won the longest cycle race in Ireland.

Swinford’s Conor Gallagher, who is a member of Castlebar Cycling Club, finished first in the ultimate Wild Atlantic Way challenge - the Donegal 555, crossing the line at around 2 a.m. this morning.

Conor (21) completed the 555 kilometre race in a time of 17 hours and 49 minutes. His nearest challenger was an hour and 20 minutes behind him.

He is the youngest ever winner of what is the country’s longest cycle race.

Conor is son of Kieran Gallagher and Adette Ring.
