Need for stacking lane on N5 at Windsor

LOCAL residents in Windsor, Castlebar, want a stacking lane to accommodate traffic turning off the N5.

The issue at Windsor and Monument Park was highlighted was Councillor Ger Deere at a municipal district meeting this week.

A number of residents have contacted him about the issue, which has been brought up previously.

Councillor Deere said he could not understand why a stacking lane has not been put in place, especially now it is so busy with the road works ongoing.

One was put in within 24 hours, he noted, to accommodate trucks and machinery working into the new N5.

The Windsor road, he continued, has been closed for well over a year now and it's a big inconvenience.

Councillor Deere asked the council if there was any time-frame as to when it might be reopened.

The residents, he said, are in limbo.
