Percentage of Covid vaccination uptake in Mayo revealed

Up to 94.8% of the population in Mayo have chosen to take a Covid-19 vaccination.

That according to figures recorded by the HSE - giving the county the seventh highest rate in the country behind Waterford (98.5), Carlow (97.7), Tipperary (96.2), Wexford (96.1), Sligo (95.5) and Wicklow (94.8).

Galway has a uptake rate of 93.8, Roscommon 93.4 and Leitrim 92.9.

Monaghan has lowest uptake of 81.8.

Despite its high uptake, Mayo still has a 14-day incidence rate of 596.2 after registering 765 new cases for the two-week period ending on August 29.

A recent report revealed the Claremorris Local Electoral Area had one of the highest infection rates in the country.
