Jobs boost as Screwfix to open new Mayo store
SCREWFIX, the multichannel retailer, is coming to Mayo as it gets set to have a total of 29 stores open in Ireland by the end of 2021.
Despite the challenges that Covid-19 has had on the retail and construction industries, the company is continuing to invest in the Irish market and is currently hiring for positions in Cork, Castlebar, Ashbourne, Limerick, Naas and Dublin.
To date, Screwfix has 18 stores open in the Republic of Ireland and with the addition of 11 more this year, including Castlebar, its employment rate will grow by more than 30%, with over 140 additional jobs across retail management, service assistants and supervisor roles.
Since opening stores in 2019, Screwfix has more than 300,000 active customers in Ireland who are shopping for products across a variety of categories including bathrooms, power tools and safety and workwear.
Speaking about the continued investment in Ireland, John Mewett, Screwfix CEO, said: “The growing demand for convenience has led to the opening of more stores to help our busy customers get their jobs done. We know that time is money for our customers and our new stores in Ireland will not only enable us to provide our customers with added convenience and certainty, but also allows us to provide even more job opportunities for local communities.”
