New book showcases rich history and beauty of Cong
LOVERS of rich, detailed landscape photography won’t want to miss the new coffee table book, Cong, by Elizabeth Toher.
At the first turn of the page, readers are transported into the picturesque and historical village of Cong, in south Mayo. Along with photographs, readers are given the stories, histories and legends that fill the iconic village.
This visual journey takes the reader through the well-known local landmarks, like Ashford Castle and the Royal Abbey of Cong, as well as some of the hidden treasures such as Lady Buttery’s Cave and the Giant’s Grave.
Amongst the many sites of Cong, readers will recognise familiar names such as Guinness and Saint Patrick and learn how each left their mark.
Photographs, stories, histories, and myths and legends intertwine, giving the reader the feeling that they have stepped into the narrative.
Cong will be available through Elizabeth Toher’s online gallery https://elizabethtoherphotography.pic-time.com/art on November 7.
Elizabeth Toher is not only the resident photographer for the prestigious Ashford Castle and Estate, but also a well-known wedding photographer in the west of Ireland.
After Covid decimated the wedding and hospitality industries, she was inspired to fulfil a life-long dream of putting together a book of her beloved Cong.
Elizabeth was born and raised in Cong and still resides there with her husband and their three children.
