Passing of stalwart of Mayo Association Dublin

The death has occurred of Paddy Moran, a leading member of the Mayo Association Dublin for many years.

A native of Bonniconlon, he served with great distinction as chairman and president of the organisation.

Aged 78, his passing, following a short illness, has evoked an immense sense of loss, such was the high regard in which he was held.

Paying tribute to the deceased on MidWest Radio earlier today, Noel Howley, public relations officer of the Mayo Association Dublin, described the deceased as a kind and generous man who would be greatly missed.

"Paddy was always very keen to assist good causes in his native county, be it Mayo Roscommon Hospice, Western Care or other organisations in need of funding. That's the kind of man he was," he added.

The Mayo Dublin Association has extended its deepest sympathies to Paddy's family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Bridie, sons Shane and Ken, his sister Agnes, brother Chris and extended family.

The funeral arrangements will be announced later.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
