High number left without beds today at Mayo University Hospital

Twenty-three patients are being accommodated on trolleys at Mayo University Hospital today.

Sixteen are in the emergency department and seven are in wards elsewhere.

It's been a very hectic week for the Castlebar facility with overcrowding issues to the fore on a daily basis.

Nationally, 418 admitted patients are waiting for beds, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

Of those 338 patients are waiting in the emergency department while 80 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital
