Trolley situation improving at Mayo hospital

THE number of patients on trolleys at Mayo University Hospital has reduced again today, for the second day running.

There were 15 patients on trolleys awaiting beds at the facility this morning, with nine being accommodated in the emergency department and the remaining six on wards.

That figure is down from 35 patients on Monday.

Nationally, 481 admitted patients are waiting for beds today, according to the INMO's daily Trolley Watch. Some 380 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 101 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
