First finalists confirmed in Mayo Gaelic football championships

Knockmore remain on track to successfully defend their Connacht Gold Mayo SFC title.

They came from a four-point deficit (0-4 to 0-8) at half-time to defeat Garrymore by six (2-11 to 0-11) in the end in their semi-final at the Centre of Excellence this evening.

Earlier in the day, in Knockmore, Balla maintained their senior status at the expense of Kiltane, winning by 1-12 to 0-9 against the Erris men in the senior relegation final.

In the Egan Jewellers Mayo IFC semi-final, Mayo Gaels got the better of Kilmaine on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-6.

There was also a TF Royal Hotel Exclusive JFC A semi-final in Newport, where Kilmeena turned on the style to dispose of Islandeady by 1-19 to 0-6.

The championship action continues tomorrow, with top billing going to the Westport versus Belmullet tie – the second of the senior semi-finals – in Ballina.

The second intermediate semi-final sees Ballyhaunis face Louisburgh in Castlebar, while the intermediate relegation final will be played in Bonniconlon between Swinford and Lahardane.

The second junior A semi-final is between Shrule/Glencorrib and Cill Chomáin in Parke, while the junior B semi-finals are also scheduled for tomorrow featuring Ballycroy against Tourmakeady and Kilfian against Eastern Gaels.
