Mayo's emergency department facing pressures today

Up to 21 patients are being accommodated on trolleys at Mayo University Hospital today due to bed shortages.

Thirteen are in the emergency department of the Castlebar facility and eight are in wards elsewhere

Nationally, 436 admitted patients are waiting for beds, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

Of those, 312 patients are waiting in the emergency department while 124 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
